Thank you very much for this. Just watched the whole thing. Having been ambivalent about Laing from his words and reputation, it's a treat to see him in the flesh so to speak. I can understand how he won people over. And he speaks some bloody good sense. D

I had the honor of getting to hear Laing speak at a conference in Horsham, PA many years ago, probably 1990. He was captivating as a speaker.

I think, it's their awareness and presence in mind, that makes some people more captivating than others. Laing definitely was a very aware person. Wish, I'd had the chance to hear him "live"!

Imagine. He was saying exactly the same things we are all saying, only 40 years ago, and people STILL don´t get it.

Sean: I wonder if they ever will...

Marian,
I'll put it at my blog.
This would spare us 100 posts. lol
"The Self and the Others" and "The Divided Self" helped me a lot understanding my mother and father.
Thank you for this.

any chance you can re-post it, as I'd love to watch it. I want to use parts in a class I'm teaching.

thanks!

Hearse-Dog: dead as a doornail, yup. :( I tried to google for it, but no luck.

Don't know what kind of class you need it for, but there's Ken Loach's Family Life. Though a movie, it's as true to Laing's ideas and illustrating them as clear-cut as it can get.

Playlist, part 1 -9, here, part ten here.
